He's here to help you make important decisions regarding your future home.
We kicked-off 2018 by celebrating the first families at De Young Trailside. We were ecstatic to welcome them to this special community. The entire De Young team is grateful to work with each and every customer. What a fun way to start the New Year!
We launched De Young Highlands, a new community located in the beautiful, tranquil area of East Clovis, in the neighborhood just east of Shaw and Leonard. This community combines the allure of spacious homesites and enhanced home features with the beauty of the surrounding area, complete with a stunning view of the Sierras and convenient access to nearby lakes and highways. The Highlands is ideally situated within the unique, pedestrian-friendly area of Loma Vista, a developing 3,300 acre master planned community designed by the City of Clovis. This incredible new community is brought to life by a developing 20-mile network of lush parks, nature trails and tree-lined streets planned in the greater Loma Vista area.
The Highlands now includes both De Young SmartHome EnergySmart homes and Zero Energy* floorplans, both of which strategically incorporate leading-edge efficiency building science and technology. Serenity and sustainability come together at The Highlands.
De Young Properties was, for the ninth time, recognized as a Fresno Bee People’s Choice Award recipient for New Home Builder, an annual honor given to three businesses per category by the Fresno Bee based on votes received from the community. We are beyond grateful to our community for this recognition!
Five inspiring new De Young model homes were opened at the Leonard Welcome Center, complete with generous features, modern design, groundbreaking technology and more! These models, featuring some of De Young Properties’ most popular floorplans, ranging from 1,600 to 3,290 square feet, offer homebuyers a new opportunity to tour varying home sizes and floorplans to find a new home that perfectly suits the needs of their family. The Grand Opening also marked the debut of the De Young SmartHome Experience Center, an interactive display of the innovative home automation and energy efficient technology incorporated in our De Young SmartHomes. Several key features of De Young EnergySmart and ControlSmart technology are showcased here, including Zero Energy technology, ControlSmart home automation, our Performance Sealed Attic design, advanced framed 2×6 walls, high efficiency lighting, high performance water heating and more. The Models and the SmartHome Experience Center are open daily to tour.
Continuing our commitment to both the community and to the environment, we were delighted to have donated 10 energy efficient Anlin windows to the two Habitat for Humanity homes built in Clovis, volunteered to help celebrate with the receiving family of one of the homes when they were selected, and eagerly chose to work alongside Habitat and the receiving family to help install the windows we had donated. The day arrived for installation and our corporate team put on their hardhats and worked side by side with the Habitat construction team and the wonderful family, getting to know one another and working together toward a common goal: building a better tomorrow for our community.
In conjunction with the energy consulting company ConSol, we announced De Young RidgeView, the largest grid-connected zero net energy (ZNE) single-family community to be developed in California. De Young RidgeView, located in Clovis, includes 58 zero net energy homes designed with the potential to produce as much clean energy as they consume in a year. Not only will these homebuyers maximize their energy bill savings, they will also have the opportunity to improve the comfort and health inside their home, reduce their carbon footprint and promote energy independence.
RidgeView is the newest and largest ZNE community by De Young Properties with (58) ZNE homes, followed closely by two others located in Clovis: The Highlands by De Young (45) and EnVision (36).
This has been on our highlight reel for the last 12 years. Last fall, with overwhelming support of the community who dug deep into their pockets and donated, the 2018 St. Jude Dream Home successfully raised $957,100 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. De Young has been a major donor and builder of 12 St. Jude Dream Homes, helping to raise $11,628,545 to help the kids of St. Jude fight cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases. The 2018 St. Jude Dream Home was given away to Stan Ruiz of Kingsburg who was selected as the lucky winner of the approximately 2,144 sq. ft. home in the De Young Trailside at Loma Vista community in Clovis.
The future of homebuilding and its alignment with California’s advanced energy goals took center stage at A Path to Zero Net Energy Symposium held at Fresno State in mid-November, with a keynote address delivered by Commissioner Andrew McAllister of the California Energy Commission (CEC).The Symposium engaged university students from related fields, homebuilders, real estate agents, urban planners and government officials alike on everything from ZNE building science technology, policy updates and ZNE market value to decarbonization in California and advancements to California’s electrical grid. Our very own energy-guru, Brandon De Young sat on the discussion panel and addressed the challenges of building ZNE homes that are scalable and cost-effective to both the builder and consumer, the role of ZNE homes in the overall decarbonization in California and reasons why homebuilders should start building ZNE homes now. The day concluded with a tour of De Young Zero Energy homes and the De Young SmartHome Experience Center at the Leonard Welcome Center.
December included a successful launch of our newest Clovis community, Aspire, which sold over 70% of the the entire community during the Pre-Grand Opening event. Aspire combines beautiful and innovative new De Young homes with the abundant amenities and benefits of central Clovis living. The area surrounding your new Aspire home offers several nearby amenities including shopping, dining, entertainment and more. Homeowners can explore nearby parks such as Sierra Meadows or Sierra Bicentennial, go for a jog along the Clovis Old Town Trail, or take a quick drive for a day on the lake at Millerton, Pine Flat or Shaver. Buchanan Crossroads and Windmill Marketplace are located conveniently nearby for your everyday needs, with several other shopping and entertainment options just a short drive away including Old Town Clovis and Sierra Vista Mall. We are excited to watch our homebuyers build their best life at this unique community.
For the last five years, the Best of Central Valley Business Awards has invited online readers of The Business Journal to vote for their favorite businesses in 35 categories. De Young Properties is excited to announce that we earned recognition in not ONE, but TWO of those categories. First, as one of the Central Valley’s Best Home Builders and second, as one of the Best Central Valley Companies Supporting Local Charities! For over 40 years, we have had a passion for building homes, a desire to ensure each customer is satisfied and true dedication to invest in our community. We are excited to keep this tradition alive.

We had a newsworthy 2018 with five front page news articles! In May our community, De Young EnVision, made waves with an exciting story in the San Francisco Chronicle! Highlighting EnVision’s development and the innovation of the community’s zero net energy capability; the article was a huge honor for our whole De Young Properties team! Following this prestigious feature, our zero energy innovation generated even more buzz throughout the industry! From Modern Homebuilder Magazine to The Fresno Bee, we were able to reach audiences all throughout our community. We were also featured in The Business Journal’s What’s Hot and What Not in homebuilding trends. As 2018 came to a close, we received word that De Young RidgeView had been honored by Green Home Builder Magazine as Community of the Year.
