De Young Zero Energy Home - Res 210

We are excited to announce that on Saturday, June 10 we will debut our new Zero Energy Home, which is now available for purchase. An Open House to view this forward-thinking home will be held Saturday, June 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at De Young Sierra Crossing located at Sierra and Randy Avenue in Clovis. As a leading energy-efficient builder in the Central Valley, we take pride in being able to provide forward-thinking advanced building science and technology to homebuyers.
The De Young Zero Energy Home is designed to produce as much energy as it consumes each year, which also zeros its energy-related carbon impact on the environment. The advanced building science utilized to achieve zero energy results in significant savings on energy bills, making it a very smart decision for financial and environmental reasons. In addition, Zero Energy Homes are much more healthy and comfortable to live in.
This Zero Energy Home is the first in the Central Valley designed specifically to be available for purchase, and it supports California’s Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan that will require all new residential buildings in California to be Zero Net Energy (ZNE). The De Young Zero Energy Home is the result of years of research and development, optimizing its design and features, including Advanced Framed Walls, a Performance Sealed Attic, an upgraded air conditioning system and a specifically-sized solar system to offset annual energy use. The price for this home will start at $421,000.

“At De Young, we always strive to push the envelope, advancing our building science and technology to stay at the forefront of high-tech, high-performance homebuilding,” said Brandon De Young of De Young Properties. “Utilizing what we learned with the construction and monitoring of our first Zero Energy Home in 2013, combined with years of further research and development, we have defined the most effective path of building a Zero Energy Home in today’s world. This breakthrough makes purchasing a Zero Energy Home financially feasible for homebuyers here in the Central Valley today, and is a momentous step towards what is coming next in today’s housing market – zero energy homes for the public at large.”

The De Young Zero Energy Home is part of PG&E’s Zero Net Energy Production Builder Demonstration program that supports California’s ZNE construction goals. Through the program, PG&E provides design consultation before, during and after the construction of the home. Once homeowners move in, PG&E monitors the house for 12 months to evaluate the home’s energy performance as well as identify opportunities for future enhancements to design, construction or occupant considerations for ZNE homes. The cost to achieve Zero Energy has been on the decline and is now more affordable than ever before. When compared to traditional homes, PG&E has found that ZNE homes work better functionally, are healthier and more comfortable for occupants and are more affordable to operate.
The De Young Zero Energy Home includes 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 3-car tandem garage, dining room and an Open-Air Courtyard with stone-accented fireplace to increase the synergy of indoor/outdoor living. In addition to the advanced building science features that include Advanced Framed Walls and a Performance Sealed Attic, the home will also offer generous amenities including a gourmet kitchen with stainless steel General Electric appliances with gas cook top, performance-engineered Kohler plumbing fixtures, spacious 10’ ceilings and 8’ doors, mosaic glass tiles, popular wood beams, as well as professional front yard landscaping.
The Zero Energy Home located in the De Young Sierra Crossing community located at Sierra and Randy Avenue in Clovis. This community is part of the award-winning Clovis Unified School District, giving you access to Buchanan High School, Alta Sierra Intermediate and Cole Elementary and is within walking distance to Old Town Clovis.

De Young has a long commitment to the environment and enjoys building homes with state-of-the-art features that will benefit both the homeowner and the environment long term. In 2013, De Young Properties introduced their first Zero Energy Home, which has since been used as a Model Home so De Young and PG&E could monitor its performance. This community has now been completed and, as such, this Model is now for sale, as well. This home was a big step beyond the De Young Zero Electric Home that was released in 2010.
