fresnoAs we embark on another year in the Central Valley, we want to be sure you that you have these incredible events, attractions and places on your “must do” list for 2016!

While this is just a small sampling of activities in Fresno and Clovis you can enjoy, we feel these are the BIG ones that you really need to take the time to do!

We are so fortunate that with many longstanding traditions, events and the incredible nature that surrounds us, there is so much to see right here in our own backyard. So take advantage of it and get out there and enjoy your surroundings!

1. Blossom Trail

We are so fortunate to the live in an area blossom-trailknown as the country’s top producer of peaches, almonds, citrus and other fruit. Before this luscious fruit ripens, the orchards put on an annual display of beautiful spring blossoms! The orchards are so stunning that the local visitors’ bureau has organized a driving tour through them called the Fresno Blossom Trail.

2. Big Hat Days

Show off your big, fun or fancy hat at BIG Hat Days in Clovis! This free and fun event features

live music, arts and crafts, a beer garden, international food, pony rides for the kids and so much more.

3. The Clovis Rodeo

GraClovis Rodeob your hat, pull on your boots, and head to the 102nd Annual Clovis Rodeo!  Filled with great performances, live concerts and lots of rodeo fun, this is a family event you won’t want to miss!

4. Old Town Clovis Wine Walk

5. Forestiere Underground Gardens

underground-gardensSicilian immigrant Baldassare Forestiere built a subterranean home and garden modeled after the ancient catacombs of his homeland. He dug 10,000 sq. ft. of rooms, a chapel, and even an underground fishing pond using just farming tools. Be sure to check out this 10-acre creation – especially on days when the scorching Fresno heat gets to be a bit too much!

6. Fresno Grizzlies Games at Chukchansi Park

Catch a ball a game with the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A baseball affiliate of the Houston Astros who compete in the 16-team Pacific Coast League. Home to the Grizzlies, Chukchansi Park is regarded as one of the finest ballparks in the country. In addition to hosting all Grizzlies home games, the stadium also hosts soccer games, football games, trade shows, and concert events.

7. The Big Fresno Fair

The Big Fresno Fair is one of Fresno’s biggest and longest running events. This 12-day annual tradition is the 5th largest in the state, bringing exciting concerts, delicious Fair Food, fun fair rides, live horse racing and lots of other fun for the entire family!

9. Fresno Chaffee Zoo & Storyland

10. Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater

Dinner and a show? Only at Roger Rocka’s! Good Company Players presents six musical comedies each year at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater, while award-winning Chef Eric De Groot and his staff prepare a unique and delicious menu for both the served dinner and the buffet for each show.  Often, the show itself will inspire some dishes that complement the mood.
