10 Fun Things To Do This Summer in Fresno & Clovis!

Even if you can’t get away to the beach or your other vacation spots this year, this list has you covered for fun local things to do to help you make the most of your summer! No matter what kind of activities you’re looking for, you’re bound to find something you’ll love right here in town.

We love our community and sharing all of the wonderful events happening right in our own backyard!

1. Fun at the Farmers Market!

There’s no better way to eat farm fresh foods, support the local economy and enjoy live entertainment than by going to the Farmers Market! The Old Town Clovis Farmers Market will be running every Friday night from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. featuring various local farmers, local foods, food trucks, vendors and live music! It’s fun for the whole family! Being the bread basket of the world, we’re fortunate enough to have some of the best and freshest foods at our fingertips – be sure to check out all of the Farmers Markets happening this summer!


2. Broadway Tours and Local Theatre

There are so many wonderful opportunities to catch live theatre this summer right here in our own backyard! The #1 musical on Broadway, Book of Mormon, will be coming to the Saroyan Theater for a limited engagement July 14 – July 19! Don’t miss this hilarious musical comedy – purchase your tickets now!%image_alt%

Also catch your Broadway-bound local stars in community theatre productions of Mary Poppins at CenterStage, Peter PanandCinderellaat CMT, Into the Woodsat StageWorks Fresno, Oliver!andAll Shook Up at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater and the Woodward Shakespeare Festival in Woodward Park!

 

3. Food Trucks, Salsa Dancing and Live Music – OH MY!

River Park offers so many fun ways to get out and have some fun this summer. Come grab lunch or a sweet treat from a number of any of the delicious food trucks they bring in every Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 2.p.m. Still hungry? Head back at night from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. for a farmers market for more food trucks and local produce! Weren’t able to take that tropical vacation this summer? Worry not because every first and third Monday of the month now through August is Tropical Mondays! Come get your salsa dancing on and boogey with your friends and significant others from 7:30 to 10pm! But wait, there’s more – every Thursday night at 5:30, grab dinner in River Park and enjoy live music from local artists! All these events are fun for the whole family!

 

4. Kids Summer Movie Series at Sierra Vista Mall!

Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., Sierra Vista Mall has a very special $4.00 Kids Combo Package that includes a ticket, child size popcorn, candy and a beverage! What a deal!

Support your Fresno Grizzlies all summer long as they take on teams from all over the country! With awesome deals like Thirsty Thursday and the Kids Zone behind home plate, there are lots of fun things to do while enjoying these future major league players play America’s favorite pastime! 6. The Fifth Annual Fresno Food Expo

The Fresno Food Expo is your opportunity to sample some of the best food products California has to offer and connect with America’s #1 agricultural community! You can meet the people behind one of the most productive food producing regions in the world. Come mingle and taste the product of San Joaquin Valley’s finest growers, food producers, processors, winemakers and brewers! Buy your tickets for the July 23rd event today!

 

7. Let’s All Gig at the Fig Gig!

%image_alt%Fig Garden Village presents the second Fig Gig of the summer Thursday, August 13 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.! Grab the family and some friends, a lawn chair and all the beverages and snacks that you want and head out to Fig Garden Village for live music! Spend time shopping in your favorite retail stores before enjoying a picnic dinner in the parking lot while being serenaded by talented local musicians! This event is family AND pet friendly!

 

8. Let’s Get Figgy With It!

The 2015 California Fig Fest is happening Saturday, August 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fresno State! You don’t want to miss this fig-licious event where culinary experts prepare figs in all kinds of delicious and exciting ways from chocolate covered to roasted to fig ice cream and fig jam! Sample the freshest figs and learn some fun ways to prepare them with Chef Fabio Vivani from Bravo’s hit reality series Top Chef!

 

9. Let me hear you say OPA!

%image_alt%The 55th Annual Fresno Greek Fest is back this August and bigger than ever! Come be Greek for a weekend as you experience the tastes, smells and sounds of the Grecian Islands! From baklava to gyros and everything in between, this weekend is sure to leave your tastes buds satisfied and your stomachs full! But don’t worry, you can learn to Greek dance with Kopi Sotiropoulos and dance off all those calories! Don’t miss this special event August 28 – 30 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church!

 

10. Fresno State Football is BACK!

What better way to wrap up your summer and kick-off Fall than by kicking it off with your Fresno State Bulldogs? The 2015 Fresno State Football season begins Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. right here at Bulldog Stadium. Come support the #1 team in the Mountain West – West Conference and help cheer your Bulldogs to victory! Speaking of victory, you may have the opportunity to meet the newest member of the Fresno State family, the new mascot, Victor E. Bulldog III! Get your tickets now!

So, don’t worry if you can’t make it out of town this summer, there are plenty of things to do right within reach!
