As Veterans Day quickly approaches, we would like to highlight our newest De Young Properties homeowner, and veteran himself, Joshua Gallegos. Joshua served in the Marine Corps for four years at Camp Pendleton, California. Recently, Josh and his spouse decided to purchase their first home together and will be the proud new homeowners of the Discover Series Residence 160 in De Young Verano at Tesoro Viejo.

1. What does it mean to own this De Young Properties home? Is this your first home?
This home will be mine and my spouse's first home that we’re purchasing together. We are very excited to experience this new journey together. Owning a home gives a sense of ownership, ownership of my own freedom and my own creativity. With De Young Properties, I was able to do that. We actually got to build our dream home together.
2. What was your favorite part about the buying / building process?
Our favorite part of the process was the many different options that were available; to be able to customize our home to match our dream home. We also enjoyed the SmartJourney process that allowed us to track the progression of our home and see which stage in the building process it’s at. We also enjoyed watching all the detailed videos of how our home is being built.
3. What is your favorite part of your De Young Properties home?
When my spouse and I were looking we really loved the backyard space, the lot, and the square footage of the home especially as first-time homebuyers. We also really enjoy the amenities in the Tesoro Viejo community such as the Ranch House and the numerous nature trails. The community gave us such a great and comfortable vibe that we fell in love with it and decided we wanted to call this home.
De Young Properties really helped walk us through the entire process, especially important as first-time homebuyers, and have been very engaging, providing us lots of information and what to look forward to as we approached closer to receiving the keys to our new home.
4. How do you feel about the overall quality of a De Young home?
We really loved the quality of a De Young home. All the features that we wanted already came standard with the home and we didn’t really have to do any extra upgrade options. We love the details and overall quality of the home. Especially as first-time homebuyers, we wanted the best home that’ll last 10 to 20 years or more. With De Young Properties we really felt like this will be a long-lasting home for us.
5. How convenient was it working with De Young Properties affiliate, De Young Mortgage?
We had a lot of concerns as first-time homebuyers – not having an agent and having a lot of questions. We did a lot of research on our own and De Young Mortgage was very helpful in answering all of our questions – they were there to help us as much as they could. It felt like we were being included in their family. De Young Mortgage was there saying “we know you want a home and we’re here to work with you.” We really love that – that energy really helped us and we felt so comfortable and safe.
6. Would you recommend De Young Properties to family and friends?
Yes, I’ve actually recommended De Young Properties to my sister! We recommended Eric, our agent, and now she has that bug of purchasing a De Young home.

Veterans Day at Tesoro Viejo- First, Tesoro Viejo will fly U.S. flags in the Town Center on Veterans Day. The flags will be displayed on the Event Lawn from Friday, November 10th through Sunday, November 12th, including Veterans Day.
